This morning, I woke up to listen to a program on Radio 'Big Heroes'. A gentleman was called on that show, and the incident he shared, made my eyes wet, and I saluted him in my heart.
That gentleman was wandering in the streets when he saw an old man, in a miserable condition, lying on the footpath. He was in dirty clothes, and smelling terribly. Any normal person would not have even taken notice, but this great man, went to him and talked to him, then he came to know that the man was from a good family, and a retired judge. Then how come, he was in that situation?
He took him to his charity home, gave him new clothes, cleaned him up, and gave him some food to eat, then he came to know: That man's sons took away all his money and property and left him on the streets to suffer. Some more persons that nice gentleman met, some were retired army men, some doctors, some more persons like that, some in their late 80's or 90's, who were from a respectable background, but wandering in the streets like a beggar, though they didn't beg from anyone. This gentleman gave all those persons a shelter in his charity home.
Hearing that incident, while I was all in respect for that nice gentleman, but it really made some tears appear in my eyes, and made me think for a while.
Our parents have done so much for us. They have sacrificed their own happiness to see us happy. How can any person be so cruel to treat his parents so badly, in an age when they seek nothing but a little love and care, from their own children? How are they able to live peacefully when they put the life of their own parents out of peace?
They've helped you whenever you were in need, whether an emotional support, or financial support. They thought for your betterment first than themselves. You can not repay even a quarter of what they have done for you. But the least you can do is to give them love and care, always, till they are with you. If they are gone, then if you regret that you couldn't do that much for your parents, it's of no use. If you can't even give them a shelter in their old age, may be you are a billionaire, but sorry to say, you are a pure loser and pathetic person.
Think for yourself, if you have some old person in your family. Do he feels ignored? Are you not giving him enough love and care, that he showered upon you? Or, can it be better? If yes, then try giving him more love and care, try to bring a smile on his face daily, and once you do it, believe me, for sure you'll feel some satisfaction within you. Also, always remember, the way you treat your parents, your children also will notice, and they will treat you the same way, when you are in their age.
I hope all of you get the message I am trying to convey here. Please take care of your elder ones, if you love them. Thanks for reading.
Love, Rish.
