A musical blog, a small tribute from me to Mohd Rafi

So friends, now is the time for some joyous stuff!! As far as my interests are concerned, I love listening to old, soft songs, and singing in tune along with them. Singing is my passion and nobody can easily stop me from singing, when I am in a mood for that. I like mostly soft music, and not that of Hip-hop type, meaningless songs(That mean only for dancing). But if a person is sitting lonely in an isolated corner, a soft touching sentimental song from any of the famous trio of Rafi,Kishore and Mukesh can really add more oil to his fire. When a person is in a romantic mood, a song like 'Pukarta chala hoon main' or 'meri mohabbat jawaan rahegi' can soothe his heart.
I have, in the previous para, talked about the trio of Rafi,Kishore and Mukesh. The oldest being Mukesh, this trio really touched the heart of millions of people, before the era ended in 1987 with Kishore's death. If you ask me which of those singers do I like the most, what would be an immediate reply? kishore? mukesh? No..as they both are not as valuable for me as the legendary, Mohammad Rafi.
The new generation of today is growing up listening to the songs of new singers like Sonu Nigam, and they appreciate his voice quality very much. Many of them don't like old songs, and if they do, then they wanna hear songs only after the 1970s, clearly surpassing the unmatchable Rafi era. These people haven't heard much of Rafi, thus they can't feel the greatness and golden voice of the legend, and his good personality, which reflected in his singing as well as in his own life. They proudly say that kishore is the best, perhaps because kishore's songs are easy to listen and easy to sing and of a little more dancing tone that Rafi's.. I appreciate their feelings very much, and agree that Kishore is one of the greatest singers the film industry has ever faced, but if asked for the preference, as to who is the best, a clearcut answer is one and only Rafi.
Rafi's voice was as clear as another legendary Lata Ji, and in several duets that he has sung with her, he has many times surpassed her in terms of voice quality and talent.. Some of the people will ask," How can you say that Rafi is of better quality than Lata?" I am not saying that one of them is better and other is not so good, but am considering both of them as top level singers, and if u listen those duets, may be u would also feel the same..
If you have heard any of the duets of Rafi and Kishore, you can feel that Kishore's voice was a little flat, with less sense of expression than Rafi; as in the famous song, Yaadon ki baraat. Rafi's voice is a perfect example of peerlessness, softness, talented, god gifted and quality. The people who like Sonu Nigam, I want to give a message to them, that singers like Sonu, Mohd Aziz and Shabbir Kumar are all hugely inspired by Rafi, but they still could not achieve the greatness of the legend. They are able to contain just a few aspects of Rafi's voice. If you have listened to the songs of the famous movie, Baiju Bawara, you can easily realize this. Every song of this movie was great, had pure classical touch, and not only that, a pain that touches your heart, if you have a sensitive heart like me. The song, Man tarpat hari darshan ko was really amazing.
The songs of Kishore and Mukesh are also phenomenal; I am not criticizing these high level singers by saying that Rafi is God and these singers are just human. No, and please, the fans of these singers, don't get diverted by my discussion; every man has a viewpoint, and u can have your own, but when I listen to their songs, only few are able to touch my heart; or you can say that their songs are only reachable to ears, and less are able to reach my heart.. It's not a question of only painful, sentimental songs, but almost every kinda song sung by Rafi, whether emotional, romantic, fast or slow, or classical, relieves my heart faster than the songs of Kishore and Mukesh. Kishore was good in singing joyful songs, and some emotional songs like 'Choo kar mere man ko' and 'O Sathi Re' were some of the best songs by him. But when it comes to Rafi, his songs seem to be coming from heart and reach our heart. Many of you must be thinking me as a quaint, boring person, a person more older than age, blah blah.. Yes, I am, in some ways. I enjoy almost every type of music, because music is a health tonic that can relieve our sorrow, refreshes the body and mind, and even can work as a real medicine. If you are having a headache, listen to the songs of any of the old singers or the soft songs of Udit Narayan, Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal and they can work as a pill to you. I enjoy these singers also, but the real refreshment comes from the old songs only, especially of Rafi.
The people, if any, who have read this blog, can send me their feedbacks, and don't take the blog as personal, just take it as a viewpoint and send your viewpoints to me. Also, if you want any song of Rafi, do tell me, in reply to this post only. I will search for it, for you..
Thanks for the patience............
